Black & Decker-12 Cup Coffeemaker
The industrial design goals for Black & Decker’s entry-level coffeemaker were to make the brewing process cleaner and simpler. This was achieved by designing an extra large on/off switch visible from across the room, and moving the brew-basket handle to the outside, keeping hands clean and away from filters and coffee grounds.Dozens of concept sketches explored an array of forms and strategies for the entire line of B&D coffeemakers, from entry level through high-end models.
Programmable high-end models integrated stainless steel facades, further distinguishing them from entry level designs.
